Report says Samsung Galaxy Note7 fiasco won't affect Gear S3's launch

Following Samsung's announcement that the Galaxy Note7 has been permanently discontinued, there were reports from Korean media that the Note7 debacle will have a negative impact on the company's future projects, many of which will get delayed.

However, according to a new report, that's not true - at least in the case of the tech giant's Gear S3 smartwatch. Citing "Samsung Insiders," the report says that the Tizen-powered wearable is on schedule for a November launch, although an exact date is yet to be confirmed.
There have been reports that the Gear S3 will be launched in mid-November, and South Korea, the US, and select European countries will get it first. The wearable is also up for pre-order in Canada, with a shipping date of November 18.

نكسة Galaxy Note 7 لن تؤثر على عملية إطلاق الساعة الذكية Samsung Gear S3

Microsoft executive spotted wearing white-colored Band

The Microsoft Band, as you might already know, is only available in black - be it the original iteration or the second-gen Band 2. However, that may change soon as a company executive has been spotted wearing a white-colored wearable device, alleged to be the Band 2.
The executive in question is Panos Panay, vice president for Surface Computing at Microsoft, and the wearable was spotted on his wrist at the Surface Lab live tour today.

Of course, there's no confirmation on whether or not the device in question is actually the Band 2. In fact, the possibility seems less as recent reports suggest the wearable is nearing its end-of-life.
It could also be possible that we're looking at the yet-to-be-announced Band 3 which is currently under internal testing and only available to higher-ups in the company. Or, it could even be something different altogether.
Needless to say, currently everything is in the air, so take it with a pinch of salt.

watchOS 3 makes Apple Watch apps launch a lot faster

At its annual WorldWide Developer Conference today, Apple has officially unveiled watchOS 3. This will be the next iteration of the software that powers the company's first wearable, the Apple Watch.
watchOS 3 will finally speed up the app launching process. This is possible because watchOS 3 keeps your favorite apps in memory and background updates are enabled. A new dock is where you can put your favorite apps.
Control Center has made it to the Apple Watch too, and you can get to it by swiping up from the bottom of its screen. Replying to messages has gotten easier, since smart replies are immediately accessible when you scroll down while viewing a message. A new way to respond is Scribble, which converts your on-screen finger swipes into text.
Switching watch faces is now done with a swipe. There's a new Activity watch face which, as its name implies, focuses on your activity throughout the day. Furthermore, activity rings can appear overlaid onto another watch face too. And you can launch workouts straight from the watch face.
SOS on the Watch is enabled when you press and hold the side button. It calls 911, which works if the wearable is connected to a phone or to Wi-Fi. After calling 911, it notifies the people you've set as emergency contacts, giving them your location. And finally, it shows your medical ID.
Activity Sharing allows you to share your workout data with family and friends. To see data that's been shared with you, just swipe to the right from your own activity rings. Activity tracking is now better suited for wheelchair users.
Apple Pay works in third-party apps, which now additionally get background access to the gyroscope and heart-rate sensor. This means apps can track your workouts even in the background.
watchOS 3 will be available as a developer preview today, and it will be out for consumers at some point in the fall as a free upgrade.

First-gen Motorola Moto 360 not going to get Android Wear 2.0

The Android version fragmentation spreads to Google's wearable platform as well. The recently revealed major update to Android Wear, v2.0, won't be coming to the Motorola Moto 360 (1st gen), Motorola Support tweeted.

The bad news was revealed sort of mistakenly, as a reply to a user who was asking when the first-gen Moto 360 will be getting the security and features update, which hit the second-gen Moto 360 some hours ago.
Hey @Moto_Support, when's the Moto 360 v1 getting the new update which was released today?
@timo_capa Unfortunately, Moto360 1 Gen will not receive the new update 2.0
On a more positive note, the support team was quick to reassure users that essential patches will still be making their way to the original 360 smartwatch.

Samsung announces Gear Fit 2 and Gear IconX

02 June, 2016 , in an event in New York City, Samsung announced a successor for the original Gear Fit which became a quite successful fitness band/smartwatch. Samsung also announced its first pair of fully wireless earbuds called the Gear IconX.
The Gear Fit uses a similarly designed vertical 1.55 inch Super AMOLED screen and is powered by a dual core 1.0 GHz processor with 4GB of storage on-board. The Gear Fit will also include an optical heart-rate sensor, GPS connectivity for tracking your outdoor activities without carrying a phone, IP68 immersion certification, and it will carry a 200mAh battery that will last up to 3 days of use or 5 days of standby time.

Samsung also announced the Gear IconX. Samsung’s truly wireless earbuds that don’t have any wires at all. They will work as a standard pair of Bluetooth headphones, will also have 4GB of onboard storage, feature touchless controls for navigating through your playlist, and also features some fitness tracking abilities that will sync with S Health.
They are going to last about 3.5 hours when listening to stored music, or 1.5 hours of streaming Bluetooth audio. Both little buds are inserted into a capsule to be charged and each full charge of the capsule holds about 2 full earbud charges. Though the battery doesn’t last very long on the Gear IconX’s, it’s a tradeoff to enjoy truly wireless Bluetooth earbuds.
Preorders go live tomorrow for the Samsung Gear Fit 2 and will be officially for sale on June 10 for a retail price of $180. The Gear IconX, however, has no pricing information available yet and will be released sometime in Q3 of this year.
