Apple really wants developers to take the Touch Bar seriously

As we are sure most of you already heard, Apple finally brought an arguably overdue refreshto its Mac Pro laptop lineup on Thursday. It consists of a trio of new laptops, two in the 13-inch and on in the 15-inch form factor. All of them are more powerful and significantly thinner then their predecessors, have better screens, improved touchpads and lets call it a "different" approach to the keyboard and I/O, now entirely made of Type-C ports.
However, all that was totally overshadowed by the introduction of the Touch Bar - Apple's new touch-screen strip, that courageously sits above the keyboard (yes, we do think it fits, since the Escape and Function keys are now completely tactile-free) and promises to revolutionize and totally change more than a few familiar workflows.
Regardless of your or our personal opinion on the new tech and the respective willingness to look at the keyboard, rather than the screen in order to take advantage of some of the new Apple magic, we can't straight up deny that the input does open up the possibility for more than a few interesting implementations and concepts. A few such definitely caught our eye during the unveiling.
However, if you are a developer, anxious to get your hands on the new MacBook Pro and start playing around with the API's, be warned that Apple has already stated loud an clear it wants you to play nice and play safe. Cupertino has a design guideline for using Touch Bar in the proper Apple-sanctioned way on its website and its tone is borderline scolding all throughout.
It is almost as if Apple realized a bit too late that it had given developers and tech-savvy users what is essentially a second screen that if used in anything short of an "all-business" serious manner could definitely undermine the whole "Pro" tier essence of the product. To put things into perspective, Apple explicitly states things like:

There are a few other points as well, which you can check out at the source link. However, it seems Cupertino can't decide exactly how it envisions the usefulness and implementation of the Touch Bar, but is already pretty determined that it is no place to have unsanctioned fun.
Since this is a design guideline and definitely not set in stone or enforced by Apple in any way, we are sure more than a few "bad apples" (horrible pun intended) will definitely go out of their way to fit an entire browser or GUI inside the tiny strip, or simply an endless looping Nyan Cat animation from end to end. But, hey, its your Touch Bar and if that's what you want from it, we don't believe anybody should ever stop you.

Survey showed 12 out of 24 Note7 owners switched to iPhone

Research firm IDC surveyed 1,082 U.S. customers of the Note7 through on online survey on October 17 and 18, just a few days after the phone maker decided to permanently discontinuethe productivity-focused phablet.
Of the 1,082 U.S. consumers, 507 were current Samsung owners, 347 were past Samsung users, 228 of which have never owned a Samsung device. Only 24 of the customers surveyed were owners, both past and present, of the Note7.
Key findings from the surveys show that half of the Note7 customers (12 out of 24) said they have or “will choose” an iPhone to replace their Samsung purchase. 17% of the surveyed customers said they would choose another Samsung. And most of them said they will return their phones physically to a carrier store.
The recall doesn’t appear to negatively affect Samsung’s brand, as most of the surveyed consumers said the recall wouldn’t affect future buying decisions for other non-smartphone appliances and products from Samsung.
“Although the recall may have an adverse impact on the brand in the short term, the truth is that Samsung remains the clear market leader in the worldwide smartphone market.” says Anthony Scarsella, research manager of mobile phones at IDC, “Moving forward, Samsung will need to put the Note7 to rest as quickly as possible to focus all efforts on producing a stellar Galaxy S8 come next spring.”

60% of Apple's mobile devices are now running iOS 10

Apple has released its latest iOS adoption numbers, revealing that the version 10 of its mobile operating system now powers 60% of compatible devices. That's a rise of 6% compared to the last time these figures were released.
As for other versions, iOS 9's share currently stands at 32%, down from its share of 38% that was revealed a couple of weeks ago, while earlier iOS versions claim an 8% share, which remains unchanged. So it's clear that whatever share iOS 10 has gained is at the expense of iOS 9.

Apple unveils three new MacBook Pro models starting at $1,499

As expected, Apple finally announced some new MacBooks at its special event today. The MacBook Pro line has received a much needed refresh. The new MacBook Pro laptops still come in 13" and 15" sizes, though this time you can choose between silver and gray as colors. They're made from aluminum, even more this time around than in the previous design.
There are two 13-inch models. The entry level option is aimed at fans of the MacBook Air. It's 14.9mm thin, comes with two Thunderbolt 3 ports, and weighs 3 pounds. It's powered by a sixth-gen 2 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5, with Iris Graphics 540, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. It is priced from $1,499 and is available today.
The high-end 13-inch model is also 14.9mm thin, and weighs 3 pounds too. The sole 15-inch iteration is 15.5mm thin, and it weighs 4 pounds. Both are thinner and lighter than their predecessors, unsurprisingly. And they both have touchpads that are two times bigger than what their predecessors had, as well as a new keyboard with the company's Butterfly mechanism that debuted in the 12-inch MacBook (though with more key travel in this case, thankfully).
Touch ID fingerprint recognition is built into the power button, as previously rumored. Multiple people can set up their fingerprints, and macOS will switch accounts based on the person who authenticates.
The biggest new feature for the high-end MacBook Pros is the oft-rumored OLED touch stripthat sits above the keyboard and replaces the row of function keys. This is called Touch Bar. It shows you different things based on what you're doing with the Mac. So for example when you're typing some text you'll get iOS-like word suggestions, or even a full assortment of emoji. When you're in another app some quick options for that will be shown - in Safari, these are your most visited websites. Oh, and you can still get the row of function keys to show up, if you hold down the function key. Siri has a dedicated key in the Touch Bar, so you can invoke her as often as you want.
The new MacBook Pros have screens that are 67% brighter and with a 67% improved contrast ratio compared to the last-gen 15" model. You also get 25% more colors thanks to a wider gamut. The new 15" MBP is powered by Intel's Skylake quad-core i7 processor, paired with 2,133MHz DDR4 RAM. The laptop features Radeon Pro graphics, based on the Polaris architecture, with up to 4GB of VRAM. The SSD is up to 50% faster, with read speeds hitting 3.1GB/s. Storage capacity options will go up to 2TB.
In the high-end 13-inch model you'll see Intel's Skylake Core i5 or i7, with Iris graphics and the same superfast SSD as in its bigger sibling. Both laptops have four Thunderbolt 3 ports, supporting USB Type-C 3.1 Gen.2, as well as DisplayPort 1.2. Any of the ports can be used for charging. Last, but definitely not least, both laptops have a 3.5mm headset jack. They run macOS Sierra and get up to 10 hours of battery life.
The high-end 13-inch model will retail starting at $1,799, while the one 15-inch version starts at $2,399. The more expensive options start shipping in 2-3 weeks. All three laptops can be ordered today from Apple.

One TV app to rule them all - coming to Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad

Apple has announced a new TV app that will soon become available to the Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad.
The TV app combines all known video streaming services into one easy to use interface and you'll no longer need to switch apps for live TV or on demand content. The TV app always knows what you are watching and where you left the last time, follows your shows, and suggests new ones based on your library.
The TV app supports all popular streaming services, but you have to have them installed on your device. You can do it within the app and once you authenticate within the service, TV adds all new content to its library, lists, and suggestions.
With the TV app Apple wants to change the way you are watching TV and interacting with it. There is live Twitter feed support within the app, where you can see all relevant tweets real time without losing sight of what's happening.
The app looks promising and can work on Apple TV, iPhones, and iPads. It will launch this December in the USA, with more markets to follow next year.

Official Apple lightning EarPods allegedly caught on video

If you have been following the various rumors and developments regarding Apple's next iPhone lineup even loosely, then you surely know about the still ongoing 3.5mm jack debate. As sources pile up over time, we have to say that things are definitely gravitating towards a new iPhone without probably the most standard of standard jacks out there (seriously, go show your grandparents one, alongside a fancy USB Type-C connector, see which one they recognize).

Of course what this logically leads up to is the necessity for a whole new wave of lightning-based audio peripherals or at least a buildup of the already existing base, as probably even Apple wouldn't be daring enough to leave us with wireless audio alone. Continuing the same logical chain, Apple does still need to provide a standard way for users to consume audio from the sole digital output left available. That can be done in one of two ways - an active adapter from lightning to a 3.5mm jack, like the one we saw a couple of moths back or an active pair oh headphones, which we allegedly caught a glimpse of recently as well.

While both approaches are really nothing technologically new or challenging, the real question is which one of these solutions will Apple decide to officially bundle with the iPhone. A newly uncovered YouTube video might just tip the scale towards a full set of EarPods, as it does appear to show an official-looking pair already working with the iPhone 6s, media controls and everything. You can check the video out for yourself.
And just to gravitate back to the technological side of things, as misconceptions and outlandish ideas really seem inevitable given the current situation - digital audio is not something new, despite what any early USB Type-C tech adopters or Apple will eventually start suggesting. Lightning ports can already output digital audio, in fact that is how iPod docks work and the same goes for most mobile USB connectors, Type-C and older micro USB alike (some conditions do have to be met though). All this new transition boils down to is a fight over where your audio gets to be converted from digital to analog and then relayed to your years, as the latter don't really know how to turn one's and zeroes into sound waves.
There is a lot to be said about each approach to what is essentially the age-old task of digital to analog conversion. This is an important point to make and one that we have tried to lay out in detail in a recent editorial.Giving it a quick read-through definitely couldn't hurt before Apple likely unleashes a whole new wave of misunderstood and overpriced tech come September's iPhone announcements.

Apple's Lightning-to-3.5mm adapter for the iPhone 7 supposedly surfaces in Vietnam

Most rumors talking about the iPhone 7 have mentioned that this year Apple is ditching the 3.5 mm headset jack for good. So at this point, after hearing this information from dozens of different sources, we're pretty much convinced it will happen. But, you may wonder, what will Apple do to keep its fans' anger in check?
Well, apparently it all comes down to shipping a Lightning-to-3.5mm adapter in the box. When you buy one of the new iPhones, you also get the adapter. So if you have a pair of headphones that connect through that 3.5mm jack, you'll be able to continue using them.Such adapter cables have been seen before (at the end of May at Computex), but what you can see in the Vietnamese video below is purportedly the original thing - aka the Apple adapter itself.

Apple supplier Foxconn reportedly has a factory in Vietnam that makes cables and adapters, and as such it's already started working on the Lightning-to-3.5mm contraption for the next iPhones. Obviously the cable shown here could be fake, but it does look like something Apple would design. It is after all simple and white.
Interestingly, if you stick it into an iDevice running iOS 10 betas, it works without a worry. On the other hand, if you try to use it with an iPhone or iPad running iOS 9, you'll get an error message saying "This accessory is not supported by this device".
Thanks for the tip, Anh hiew!

The iPhone 7 might feature a 3D touch home button

After a myriad of leaks and rumors, we are now fairly certain that the new iPhone lineup will be available in the middle of September. This shortness in time also tends to give the rest of the Apple rumor collection a certain air of plausibility as well. However, that logic seems to be failing quickly, with head-turning latecomers to the show, like the recent iPhone 6SE naming rumor or the shots of a trio of devices, instead of a duo.
Continuing the same trend of alleged surprises, a new rumor suggests the next iPhone will have a 3D touch home button. The idea is that it will work similar to recent MacBook touchpads. This means being able to distinguish between different levels of force and also providing a vibration or "haptic" feedback to the user, instead of actually pushing in a key.

It definitely sounds plausible, but there is a lot to be said about usability and reception, as the round, physical home button has become somewhat of a constant presence in the iPhone family.
In another rather intriguing development, the same source also hints at the possibility of a Black iPhone option this year. This, of course would be a welcome sight for many, especially those who remember the elegance of the Black iPhone 5s.

Slide shows iPhone 7 will have wireless charging and waterproofing

Rumors about the iPhone are like fishermen's stories - they grow bolder and grander as time goes on. A photo of a presentation slide lists the highlights of the upcoming phone.
The slide shows an iPhone 7 Pro (dual cameras) but is labeled iPhone 7 Plus. That aside, the phone will run iOS 10 (obviously) and will lack a headphone jack ( a rumor that has been confirmed and denied several times by unofficial sources).
It will allegedly have wireless charging and will be water resistant. Those are two things that Apple hasn't touched, while they are becoming more and more common on Android phones.

This isn't the first time we've heard of a waterproof iPhone 7 with wireless charging, but we're still not ready to believe it. Next thing you know, people will start talking about a microSD slot.

Man involved with ‘Celebgate’ pleads guilty, faces up to 5 years in prison

In 2014, a security breach of iCloud accounts, many of which targeted, celebrities, broke out among iOS users. A team of hackers got a hold of more than 30 celebrities’ iCloud credentials with unrestricted access to the victim’s iCloud account. Namely, the private images and videos of these celebrities which were later leaked onto the internet.
One of these hackers, 28-year-old Edward Majerczyk is facing up to 5 years’ time in federal prison for violating the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. He has plead guilty to accessing over 300 Gmail/iCloud without authorization.

iCloud login window
As for the actual leaking of these photos, there are other hackers suspected to having done so, and Majerczyk is not being charged for the actual distribution of private information.
Majerzyk and his team of Hackers were able to pull off a phishing scheme to gain access to such accounts. Phishing is tricking the victim into entering their username and password into a falsified version of a major site in order to retrieve the victim’s credentials.

These kinds of attacks can happen to anyone and we are reminded to always keep our data safe. Remember to change your passwords frequently, refrain from using the same password for more than one account, and always be mindful of where you are entering your login credentials. The connected world has made it easier for identity thefts to steal sensitive information. Keep your data private.

CONVERT YOUR IPHONE 6S INTO IPHONE 7 BY WATCHING THIS

Convert Your iPhone 6S Into iPhone 7 By Watching This : Every now and then, I come across a video on YouTube that makes me watch it over and over again. Sometimes the video can be just plain silly, and sometimes it can be extremely interesting, but other times I simply can’t make my mind up which it is.
Recently I came across a video in which an iPhone 6s is being ripped apart and turned into an iPhone 7. So, this is one of those occasions, which I don’t know how to classify, is it silly, or interesting?
iPhone 6s Looks like an iPhone 7
The video I am talking about was filmed at a location called Liberty Bridge in Budapest. And shows how a poor and unsuspecting iPhone 6s was taken apart component by component, with a whole menagerie of power tools. Apparently, this was done to make the iPhone 6s look as much like the iPhone 7 according to the latest rumors.
So, it ended up with an extra camera unit, which was ripped from another poor iPhone and also had its headphone port filled in with solder. According to the video creator.
This was done to give it an authentic look and keep it in-line with current dual camera rumors. However, I can’t help but feel it’s a little like Frankenstein somehow!
Sticking with the Rumors
It seems that with the urge to rip apart an iPhone, came the urge to keep it in-line with everything that has been said about the iPhone 7 so far. So, that’s the inclusion of dual speakers, new and redesigned Antenna bands, and even the recently reported Deep Blue replacement for Space Gray.
Creating Your Own iPhone 7
Personally, I’m far too busy to take a power tool to my iPhone, but that probably doesn’t mean that you can’t! Don’t miss-understand me, I’m not suggesting that you take an Angle grinder to your perfectly in working orderiPhone 6s.
I’m just saying that this video was an extremely entertaining one, and if you have the time, the technical ability and can afford to destroy an expensive top if the line smartphone, then why not?
Not Long to Wait
If mutilating innocent smartphones, is not your cup of tea, don’t feel anxious. You only have to wait until September for the actual real iPhone 7 to be launched. However, and yes you’ve guessed it.
Apple has of yet, not confirmed the release, however, as it was a no-show at this year’s WWDC event, some tech journalist would bet their houses on it turning up in September.

Apple patents Split View, Slide Over and 3D Touch features

Apple has just been granted a total of 12 design patents by the Hong Kong Patent and Trademark Office. The bulk of those cover features from the iPad Pro, namely Split View and Slide Over multitasking functionality. A single one of the 12 patents is related to the iPhone 6s- 3D Touch.

Apple filed for the patents all the way back in December last year - several months before the iPad Pro was made official.
Mind you, the scope of the patents covers the design of the features - it doesn't mean that other manufacturers can't make their own multi-window or 3D Touch-like implementation, just need to be careful on the "shape, configuration, pattern and/or ornament" of their designs.

iPhone SE gets $50 price cut in US

The Apple iPhone SE has received a price cut in the US, where MetroPCS (T-Mobile's prepaid brand which has just started carrying iPhones) is currently selling the device for $349, down $50 from what the Cupertino-based company is officially charging for it.
In addition, the now officially-discontinued iPhone 5s is available for $199, which is less than what most other retailers are charging. The carrier is also offering the latest iPhones (6s and6s Plus), selling them for $649 and $749, respectively, which - if you compare - are roughly in line with their official price tags.
Currently, iPhones are only available at select MetroPCS stores in Florida. However, T-Mobile says nationwide availability is coming soon.

7 reasons led Apple's Global Leadership

When we talk about Apple, we are talking about the company continued for many years among the top owners in the world of electronics, not shaken for a moment during those years, despite all what happened around variables. Apple's real revolution began firing iPod, a device that is concepts and the way you listen to music by people forever. And from then, and Apple innovate and change the lives around them, from the iPhone to the iPad. Apple faced a lot of challenges, including entering the Android system and the great support by a lot of competitors. But the bulk of that Apple did not shake at all, and the company continues to achieve today terrifying figures on the level of sales and financial results.

Perhaps the most important question here is how Apple has been able to do so. Why, to this day, we find people eager to launch a new product from Apple, and if they see it at first glance. And like yesterday and I stand in front of a Jarir Bookstore branches and hundreds of people lining up to wait for the midnight launch of the iPhone 6 phone in Saudi Arabia. It is not uncommon at all in Saudi Arabia that people line up to buy a new device, but as the story seems to love people for Apple products universal and not confined area without the other.

In this article I try to shed light on eight important and pivotal for the survival of Apple's strong position causes over the years, and despite the strong competition and the many market variables.

1. The user experience first :

Of the strongest foundations of various Apple devices it puts the user experience in the first place since the first moments of the start of the machine design. The more important question is "What do you want to do?" Before "What we want to make?". The first iPad was one of the examples that show how after looking at Apple when the introduction of new products. Everyone was looking for a laptop to be touching the interface, but Apple deemed it best to provide a completely new idea, meets largest consumer Ahtajat. If it's the first iPad Kmpiotra maybe we've seen suffering in providing one hour of battery life. IPad is designed to give long hours of battery for a device of this kind, and thus enriches the user experience by allowing him to use for a long time without having to be present near the source of electricity, that was a milestone in the design of the iPad and its user experience.

2. Simplicity basis of everything :

Go and look at anything for Apple to fully realize their great love of simplicity in providing everything. Official their store very sleek and designed easy experience for all products and choose what it needs. Their official website is also simple and clear, as well as the way in which they encapsulates their products out, painted white and then prevailing that a silver beautiful logo and probably took a picture of the product with great precision and very careful. This philosophy is simplicity is also transmitted to the design of their products, for example, if we look at the MacBook Air, it is a silvery body put on it, which Apple logo shine Kalmraya. It may occur to the mind that this simplicity inspect the product or luxury elegance factor in the design, but the result obtained by Apple is quite the opposite. As well as it moves to the operating systems, where never see someone finds it difficult to use Apple computers, and if everything is clear and self-evident from the start.

3. Performance by the numbers :

Simple period before someone asked me, why my phone camera has more tnumber of mega pixels compared with your Iphone , but the iPhone takes pictures better? That question often repeated, and perhaps the supervisor of Technology knows at this time that the numbers do not mean everything in the end. Apple has always been long interested in the first place performance, and does not often talk about the numbers when it comes to its organs. IPhone in recent years, for example, is one of the best mobile imaging hand, despite the fact that his rivals and arrived more than 20 megapixel basic camera. Also not too long ago Apple was used only 1GB of RAM, number perhaps only uses medium and devices as without it. But that did not happen any mess in the technical center, and did not find a lot of complaining about this, because the short and Apple always triumph to respond to everyone, because the scale first and foremost is performance.

4. Clarity orientation :

Apple has a clear policy regarding the organs, and the company is dealing with the market and the consumer simply and equilibrium. When we see other companies, we find many dilemmas in issuing organs, issuing Sometimes a lot of average hardware and the world, and they are using brand names randomly. While you find other companies do not have any clear policy on the main phone, Sometimes issued once a year, and sometimes issued every 6 months. On the other hand since 2007 when the first iPhone and Apple device afternoon issued a new phone in the iPhone series once a year, where the sequence between the new version and the full year, followed by an upgraded version of the same phone. This policy is fully applicable to the iPad also clearly the annual publications. This is a very important part of Apple's policy, and has clearly led to the building of a strong trust factor between the company and among consumers continued without destabilizing for many years

5. Marketing influential :

All marketing can, all you need is a lot of money, but not all marketing effective, and not all been marketing results. There are many who believe that Steve Jobs is not anybody special when we talk about technology, but short, a genius in the world of marketing. Well, the second point can not denounce all, Vjobz and Apple in general have proven their abilities in the field of marketing superstar. For Apple's marketing is starts since the first moment to make a device, and everybody knows that Apple is the most press conferences follow-up at all. Apple certainly use the classic ways, like others, we find advertising their products on television and in the streets. But Apple is working hard to consolidate the presence of their products in every person's life, how much of a television drama series or a famous movie and found it used computers are the iMac and MacBook and phones are iPhone, so Apple invade our minds without feeling completely.

6. Solid infrastructure :

There are solid foundations to build upon, any important project and aspires for success. Apple has succeeded greatly in building the solid bases, and infrastructure is the most important for their products is very strong and helped it to continue for a long time and win the consumer researcher for the right tool to meet the needs confidence. For example, may take as an example the iPhone is important, and perhaps most importantly for the company, we find that one of the important rules and basic infrastructure are the shop applications. Apple worked very hard to make the App Store something credible to all parties involved, whether developers or consumers. From the developer side has got a safe place and just to publish his work, with a great opportunity to achieve profitable ones. While the consumer got a safe place and reliable to download various useful applications, and which are exposed to significant performance tests to ensure their quality. The same applies to iTunes, and featured in infrastructure for Apple that they are interrelated and are compatible between different organs.

7. Prestige brand :

Apple not only is the first brand in the world, but the value equal to twice the value of the second-placed and is Google.
